The National Football Conference’s East Division is navigating into uncharted oceans of failure, as all four teams are limping into week 8 at a minimum of a game-and-a-half under .500.

The worst of the bunch, the New York Giants, have somehow managed to earn a slot in a Monday Night Football matchup against the surging Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As absurd as this may sound, the Giants are by no means out of the NFC East title hunt according to NFL betting sites, but the Buccaneers are red hot right now, winning five of their last six games with both the offensive and defensive units firing on all cylinders.
Their defense has allowed 10 and 20 points over the last two weeks while their offensive output placed 38 and 45 on the scoreboard, respectively.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are now sitting on top of the NFC South with a 5-2 record and have +650 odds to win Super Bowl 55 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium in February of 2021.
The Giants lone win in 2020 came against the Washington Football Team when their head coach, “Riverboat” Ron Rivera, decided to roll the dice and go for two after a last second touchdown.
The 2-point conversion failed. Had Washington simply kicked the extra point the game would have gone to overtime where a tie or a win would have given the team formerly known as the Redskins at least a share of the division lead.
Washington’s roster contains the least amount of talent of the four NFC East teams, but they are gelling as a unit under Rivera and just handed the Dallas Cowboys a crushing 25-3 defeat last Sunday.
Let’s be real, even the most outlandish Super Bowl 55 predictions wouldn’t include Washington or any of these lowly NFC East franchises, but the fact does remain that one of these teams will indeed host an NFL playoff game in early 2021.
The Miami Dolphins will return from their bye week to face the Los Angeles Rams in week 8, and they’ve announced that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be benched in favor of rookie quarterback out of Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa.
Now there are calls on Twitter for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to make a trade for Fitzpatrick now that his top two quarterbacks have suffered injuries.
Again, in normal circumstances, there’d be no reason for a 2-5 team to make a trade for the purposes of winning now, but the 2020 NFC Least is so pathetic that all of these teams would be wise to avoid the temptation to tank and focus on salvaging the season with a playoff berth.
